A Brief History Of Chinese Language

A Brief History Of Chinese Language

    Learn Chinese Language

The Chinese language has had various changes over time. At the initial time, the Chinese language was considered to be the part of the Sino-Tibetan family. One of the main problems is that there is no written documentation of anything in these languages which has been the biggest problem of that time. And using this language did not give the satisfactory results required at that period. After the various developments in China, they have tried to develop and upgrade their language that was based on the first few systems which were devised by Bernhard Karlgren, a Swedish linguist in the 1900s

The Archaic Chinese that was considered to be the oldest Chinese language which was being spoken during the early and middle Zhou dynasty time has now been changed to a more simpler and easier language. The characters were taken from the old Chinese languages but the pronunciation of the characters is taken from Japanese and Vietnamese.

During the Sui, Tang and Song dynasties, Middle Chinese language was often used and it is the reflection of the Qieyun rime dictionary. Most of the Chinese use different sorts of Mandarin dialects as their home language as it is more developed and simpler than all the complex languages used before.

Earlier, people of China only spoke their native language, and they were not interested in learning the other cities languages. But now, the trend has changed and the people of South China began to learn the languages spoken in the North. There is no major difference between both languages but the way of speaking has changed quite a bit.

In the 17th century, the Empire decided to set up orthoepy academics to make Beijing mandarin the official and traditional language to use among citizens. However, their efforts had little success. It was only during the 19th century, specifically Qing’s last 50 years, where the Beijing Mandarin had finally taken over Nanjing Mandarin in the imperial court. Generally, most people had spoken variations of Mandarin in China, but even then, a single standard of Mandarin was non-existent. Those who didn’t speak Mandarin in Southern China also continued using their local languages throughout their lifetime.

However, this began to change after an elementary school education system was created to teach Modern Standard Chinese also known as Mandarin, to allow citizens to learn the Chinese language. After some time, many other neighbouring countries have also started learning this language as it helps them to communicate better and allows them to build a strong connection between each other.

With the emerge of this Mandarin language the local language within the country has declined a lot and all the people have shifted to this. As a result, no one really speaks the native language anymore after Mandarin started becoming widely used. Even then, the Chinese language is one of the oldest and unique languages all over the world and this culturally enriched language is also being learned by the other countries as well.

As Chinese is being used more frequently among many people globally, it goes to show that it has become necessary to at least learn the basics of the language. And in Singapore, there are many different institutes with Chinese language courses where you can learn about the enriched history of the Chinese language. So look out for the most experienced and knowledgeable institutes, so that you can attain the knowledge that you’re looking for.
