There is no excuse in observing proper etiquette. No matter where ever you are in the world, there are etiquettes that are needed to be followed. One of the best etiquettes to practice is the Chinese etiquette. Before you travel to China use your SkillsFuture credit program to learn Chinese language and Chinese culture, here are some of the classroom etiquettes you have to know to follow in a Chinese classroom:

When the teacher comes in
When the teacher enters the classroom, the president of the class would instruct the class to stand up and put their palms next to their thigh and give their salutation to the teacher and say Hello Teacher, then the president will also instruct the class to sit down after.

Introduce yourself
When you are new to the class, it is expected that you will be introduced go the class. So you have to learn how to introduce yourself as a greeting when you come in into a classroom. In China, in introducing yourself, you have to normally tell your full name, where you came from and what your job is. They normally use “Ni hao, Wo De Ming Zhi Shi … “, which translates to Hello/Hi, My name is and then state your name.

Participation
Once the class is ongoing and you want to participate in the discussion, you should raise your hand and not expected to say something unless you have caught the attention of your teacher and asked you to actually speak. But this seldom happen since Chinese students are trained to just absorb all what they are being taught and put whatever they have learned to in their test papers.

At the end of the class
Once the classes end, the president of the class will again ask everyone to stand up with palms next to their thighs, bow and say Goodbye Teacher.
There you go.

Now you are ready to take apply for SkillsFuture Chinese course and study Chinese language with Chinese Edge Language School.
