Trainer’s Profile

Chinese Edge handpicks our teachers from a pool of talented teachers from various colleges in Singapore and China. They all have teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) colleges in the country. All of them are native speakers mainly from Northern China and in close vicinity to the Ivy League of Chinese academia.

We are in a unique position to recruit from universities such as Beijing University, Renmin University, Beijing Normal University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Language and Culture University, etc.

Our Native Chinese teachers are qualified, professionally trained and bilingual. Most of them are Master or Degree holders in Applied Linguistic studies with an average of 1000 hours of teaching Chinese as a second or international language.

MS. CLAIRE WANG

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree in English Teaching Methodology from Shaanxi University. She has a Professional Chinese Teaching qualification and passed the Chinese EPT exam for MOE Chinese teacher.

Fluent in Mandarin & English Language

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Claire was originally from China. She had six years working experience in hospitality business before joining us in Singapore as a Chinese teacher. She has abundant experience in teaching Mandarin to adults and kids. Her dynamic and interactive way of teaching makes it easy for students to understand and grasp Chinese language on daily use.She has been a Mandarin teacher for 6 years. Her students include western expats, local Singaporean and young learners from 4 to 16 years old. Her hospitality and customer service background is an added value for learners who like to explore more in the relevant business field.

MS. JOLENE XU

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Arts (Teaching Chinese as an International Language), National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Jolene is a highly motivated, professional and positive person who is passionate about learning and developing others to be successful. Her teaching approach is holistic and caring by customizing lesson plans to meet the students individual needs.Equipped with solid teaching foundation and experience, she believes it is the key to master Chinese to maximize the practice time during class, give the time back to the students and help them to build up the connection with the real situations. In addition, her business background and management experience is an added value for students learning business Chinese.

MS. FLORA LING

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Arts Teaching Chinese as an International Language National Institute of Education, Singapore. Master of International Business Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Flora work as a Chinese teacher since 2010 and delivered Chinese classes to students of different walks and ages. She started her Mandarin teaching career when she was a university student and moved to Singapore to continue her passion in Mandarin teaching.She is friendly, outgoing and patient. In her class, students will be taught in various stimulating activities. Her teaching paradigm is to inspire students’ potential as well as stimulating their interests in learning Chinese. She has taught HSK, IB, Business Chinese to the students from the UK, USA, Korea, Thailand, and many more.

MS. GRACE HAN

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master Degree of Chinese Studies from National University of Singapore.

LANGUAGES:

Bilingual in Mandarin and English

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Grace was originally from Shenyang, China. She has been a Mandarin teacher in China since 2008 has been teaching Chinese in Singapore for more than 5 years.She is good at leading the learning activities for students and helping the students to build up confidence in learning. Apart from conversational Mandarin, she will also talk about Chinese culture which is both interesting and helpful for students to interact with the local Chinese people. She likes to stimulate the interest of students to learn and help her students to develop a good habit to learn.

MS. XIU WANG

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor Degree of English Teaching Methodology from Liaoning University. Xiu Wang has a Professional Chinese National Teaching qualification and passed the Chinese EPT exam for MOE Chinese teacher.

Fluent in Chinese Language, English & Japanese Language

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Xiu Wang is originally from Shenyang, China. She started her career as an English teacher in China, where she developed great passion & interest in teaching Mandarin as a second language when working with foreign teachers. She has over 8 years of Chinese Mandarin teaching experience with both adults and children.She strongly believes in encouraging students’ interest and confidence in Mandarin learning. She believes that learning Mandarin should be a very inspiring & joyful experience, as she enjoys learning foreign languages & cultures herself very much as well. She is fluent in Mandarin, English & Japanese.

MS. HE YAN

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master degree from Nanyang Technological University

LANGUAGES:

Bilingual in Mandarin and English.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

He Yan was originally from Shenyang, China. She is good at leading the learning activities for students and helping the students to build up confidence in learning. MS. VICKY LI

Master Degree of Chinese Language & Literature from Sichuan Normal University. She has a Professional Chinese Teaching qualification.

Vicky is originally from Chengdu, China. She started her career as an English language & culture teacher in international schools, where she developed great passion & interest in teaching Mandarin as a second language. She has over 10 years of Chinese Mandarin teaching experience with both adults and children.She strongly believes in encouraging students’ interest and confidence in Mandarin learning. She believes that learning Mandarin should be a very inspiring & joyful experience, as she enjoys learning foreign languages & cultures herself very much as well. She is fluent in Mandarin, English & French.

MS. HELEN WANG

QUALIFICATIONS:

Helen attained her Bachelor degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University in China, and Diploma of Education from Hubei Institute of Education, and also a Diploma in Early Childhood, Singapore

LANGUAGES:

Bilingual in Mandarin and English.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Helen is native Chinese who started her Mandarin teaching in China Since 2006, and continued teaching in Singapore since 2013. She has great passion in teaching kids Mandarin at different background, levels and age groups.

She uses active learning strategies during her course delivery. Through effective learner profiling, she is able to motivate students and improve learning outcomes.

MS. LI JIE

QUALIFICATIONS:

She has attained her Master degree from Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia and Bachelor in English Education from Beijing Capital Normal University

LANGUAGES:

Bilingual in Mandarin and English.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Jie started her Mandarin training career when she went to USA in 2009 at Cornell University. She later moved to Singapore with her family in 2011. Jie has aptitude to remain flexible, ensuring that every student’s learning needs and abilities are well addressed. She is also accommodating and versatile with the talent to develop inspiring hands-on lessons.

She has taught many foreign expatriates in Beijing, USA and Singapore. Her business Master Degree is an added value for her to teach Business Mandarin. Apart from business Mandarin, she also taught Chinese culture which was very well received by the students helping them to interact with the local people.
